The historic harbour town itself is quite magical. Set on a stunning coastline, great for fossil hunting and bird watching, with beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Even in the height of the holiday season it has a peaceful, laid back feel and friendly atmosphere. Watchet is a lively and friendly community with an incredibly welcoming atmosphere. Take some time to visit the picturesque marina, the little lighthouse, travel on the steam railway, wander around the two museums, visit the local art galleries, browse the antique shops, go to the zoo or browse the local craft and food markets. There’s everything you need from good local shops, friendly bars, cafe’s, pubs and takeaways, to a fab local music scene which even hosts its own yearly festival.
Can’t recommend this cottage enough. It is beautifully situated with sea views and a lovely garden. The decor is great and it had so much character and charm as well as all the comforts of home. My wife and kids and 2 dogs had a brilliant time. Love Watchet. Brilliant place for a family holiday. Really comfy and spacious cottage, just a few minutes walk from all the pubs and shops too. – Benny
As well as all this on your door step, you are only a few minutes drive away from picturesque Dunster Castle, Blue Anchor Bay and the popular seaside town of Minehead. So there are great leisure facilities, shops and attractions on the doorstep or just around the corner. We should n’t forget to mention the area offers some of the best walking in England with the Coleridge Way stretching across Exmoor and The Quantock Hills. Exmoor is also recognised as one of the best and most challenging off-road cycling destinations in the UK. The combination of a beautiful and varied landscape and an excellent network of bridleways, lanes and other permitted tracks provide ample opportunity for cyclists to enjoy some fantastic rides. If all this isn’t enough just drive a little further on south and before you know it you’re on in to Devon with it’s beautiful north coast, places like Porlock, Ilfracombe and Wilacombe are all in easy reach.
