A large hall is central to the house and to the front of the house there is a big sitting room and playroom. At the foot of the stairs there is a bunk room next to the front door hallway.
The sitting room is generously proportioned, not quite Georgian, but big. The views from here are of the Isle of Wight Needles and magnificent at sunset. Next door to it is a big playroom and second sitting room, and off it, an eccentric turret.
The dining area seats the full 14 and is slightly away from the kitchen meaning that any kitchen staff or cooking mess are a step away from your any special meals. The kitchen itself has a smaller table for 8, and a huge marble-topped central island and is well kitted out for feeding the masses.
There are 6 bedrooms, upstairs 2 doubles and 2 twins. Downstairs 1 bunk room. There is a beautifully renovated annexe just across from the kitchen which has a twin and super king sized double. It also has a good sized bathroom en-suite. Further staff accommodation of a double and en-suite can be used which is separate and above the garage.
The property extends to 3 acres and the gardens wrap around the house. The formal gardens are extensive and established. Planted in 1911 and barely changed since, walking around it is delightful and children will love to discover green “rooms”. The views to the front are fabulous and you the house looks over the Keyhaven bird reserves to the Isle of Wight. Toward the back of the property, in the direction of the village there is a 2 acre meadow, full of wild flowers in summer. On a single giant ash tree there is a swing, perfect for children to head off to for some time out and loud games.
There is a good BBQ here and a large terraced outdoor eating area next to the kitchen and outside the annexe.
Whilst there is much to do exploring the area, staying here is such a treat, you may not want to go far. Walks from here are top notch, bikes are provided. There is crabbing to be enjoyed near the beach 10 mins west. Sailing and fishing from the little marina 5 mins to the east.
