Description
5 Star Luxury Property
Experience first-hand York’s medieval history in this fabulous 3-bedroom luxury holiday rental housed within a Grade I listed tower dating back over 700 years. With its central location, pretty garden by the river and absolutely fantastic roof terrace with beautiful, panoramic views over the city, this property is simply the place to stay in York.
Now a listed monument, the tower dates back to the reign of Richard the Lionheart and has stood by the river Ouse since 1299. In 2010, a team of skilled craftsmen set about transforming it into a unique and stunning holiday home. Although much care and attention has been paid to retain the character and historical importance, contemporary comforts have been added throughout to make a stay here most rewarding.
This property is surprisingly spacious inside and a place where you can discover history and elegance at every turn. On the ground level you’ll find a very comfortable sitting room with flag-stone flooring, exposed oak beams and a double height ceiling taking you up to the mezzanine floor. It also comes complete with a Freeview and TV and Wii to keep you amused on evenings in.
The kitchen is stylish and well-equipped making it a pleasure to cook in and there is plenty of room in the dining area where all the guests can gather around the table. As well as this there is also a handy downstairs WC and shower room.
Head up the beautiful wooden spiral stairs to the first of the 3 double bedrooms; a bright and stylish bedroom housed on the mezzanine level. Onwards and upwards and you arrive at the second bedroom. Wood-panelled walls, a stone fire-place and grand 4-poster bed set a romantic note. The third bedroom is much the same, with sumptuous furnishings and a rich indulgent theme. Both of the main bedrooms feature stunning views of York and the river as well as having luxurious en-suite bathrooms. Each bedroom also boasts an LCD TV & DVD Player which are perfect for lazy mornings.
Outside the property has a really pretty garden with uninterrupted views along the river: the perfect spot for lunch al fresco in the warmer months. The star of the show is the breathtaking roof-top terrace with 360-degree views of York. It’s the perfect spot to sip on a G & T, watch the boats sail by and plan which restaurant to book that evening.
