The name ‘The Shiel’ is derived from Middle English ‘schele’ or ‘shelter’ or Scottish ‘shieling’ (shepherd’s hut, summer pasture).
The Shiel lends itself very well to either a couple, two couples holidaying together or a small family. With a ground floor bedroom and shower room, and 2 bedrooms and a large bathroom on the first floor, the accommodation is flexible for most needs.
The spacious open plan kitchen and dining area has French windows leading to a lawned garden with a beautiful view and the large comfortable lounge upstairs with a beamed ceiling and wood-burning stove in inglenook fireplace provides a cosy retreat after a day’s walking or exploring. There’s a bike shed at the rear of the cottage for those bringing cycles.
High quality oak furniture throughout the cottage. Full central heating via underfloor and radiators. Free Wi-Fi and telephone landline.
