Romantic surprise getaways
Booking a surprise valentine break or romantic adventure in the UK is easier than ever with our self-catering cottages and apartments.
No need to worry about passports and sun cream – Just convince your loved one to pack a bag with the essentials and some warm clothes then jump in the car. Here are some ideas of places to stay for couples where you will have more privacy than in a hotel and can explore some of the less frequented nooks and crannies of the UK. With a self catering midweek break you decide whether to eat in or out, go and create your own beautiful memories…..
Located in Milford on Sea in Hampshire the Little Egret Holiday Apartment has availability over Valentines day and is the perfect little escape that sleeps 2. With towels and bed linen included its even easier to book a surprise break in this seaside village. Within a 10-minute stroll you are on the seafront where you can enjoy the views across to the Isle of Wight while having a romantic lunch at the beachside café. A nice walk along Hurst Spit to Hurst Castle is recommended but if you would prefer to take the boat then the Hurst Castle Ferries run a 20-minute shuttle service from the quayside in Keyhaven (First boat of the day is 10.15am), taking you along the Keyhaven river up to Hurst Castle at the end of Hurst Spit (Please note that entrance to the castle itself is only available from March 29th to 31st Oct). Many people choose to take the ferry one way and walk the other – this way you get to enjoy the best of both worlds and see the scenery on both sides of the spit.
You can also take a ferry across from Lymington to the Isle of Wight and spend a day bus hopping around this lovely island. It takes just 40 minutes and is the fastest car ferry to get across to the island. Travelling with your car with set you back around £50 for two passengers, depending on the time of day. If you are going on foot the price is about £34 for two people. Find out more about the ferry from Lymington here.
Our next choice of romantic retreat is in the Cotswolds, such a beautiful historic location for a short winter break and you can enjoy being right in the middle of the action at our next property – Number Five is a cosy mid-terraced cottage in the heart of Chipping Campden just off the main road. Built originally in 1901 and totally refurbished in September 2017 to an exceptional standard which includes underfloor heating and a walk in shower. Its the perfect venue for a midweek valentine break.
Chipping Campden has a thriving high street to enjoy with numerous shops, cafes and places to eat. The independent range of shops is fantastic, everything from ‘Goody Lou’s Shoes’ to the ‘Cotswold Cashmere Company’. The Market Hall is just one of the fascinating historical features of the high street.
If you fancy a swim or a gym workout the leisure centre offers lots of adult only sessions from just £3.60 – check out their timetable here.
