Using up that Annual Leave

Its that time of year again when you boss says, ‘use it or lose it!’Out of office annual leave for holiday

They are of course talking about that annual leave that you had forgotten about which needs to be taken before the end of the month – or if they are feeling kind, they could extend it to the end of January. So what better way to spend those left-over days with a few nights away on a midweek break in the UK?

Getting away from it all is the perfect medicine before the shortest day on December 21st. Fit in some of that essential Christmas shopping at the same time as exploring a new piece of the country. With late availability and low season there is no better time to find a sneaky little cottage tucked away for a romantic break with your partner. Having one on one time in your own bubble really cements a relationship and builds memories.

Bring your pouch – we know how hard it can be to be parted from your best friend, browse our pet friendly cottages for a special doggy getaway. May of Britain’s beaches allow dogs during the low season and some holiday home owners will even provide a doggy towel, bowl and poo bags.

If you enjoy cycling, you are never too far away from a national cycle route. Look at how they span the country now. Here is a link to the UK National Cycle Network. There is also a large increase in the number of cycle routes in towns and cities where you can hire bikes and explore the canals, rivers and features of the area that are out of reach by car.

Indoor swimming pool in Northumberland Even if the weather is poor there are many cottages that enjoy an indoor swimming pool or hot tub to relax in after a tour of the local antique shops and art galleries. Remember to pack those woolly socks and a warm sweater so you can hug that hot chocolate in front of a roaring wood burner.
