Finding a dog friendly beach is essential if you are to enjoy unrestricted access to the sea and beach without the worry of ‘straying to the wrong area’.  You can see we have listed the beaches where you can happily roam for hours and enjoy splashing in the waves with your dog or just a lovely stroll.

Remember if you are going to a restricted beach to check if it is restricted by area, season or for some other reason.  Additionally, there can be local events that can affect whether you and your dog can be set free to roam the beach.

Here is an example taken from Bournemouth – Official Tourism Website.

Bournemouth Seafront welcomes responsible dog owners.

Between 1st May and 30th September, dogs must be kept on a lead on the promenades and paths at all times, and may only be exercised on the following signposted sections of beach:

Border with Poole to Groyne 3 (Alum Chine beach office)
Groynes 5 to 7 (Middle Chine to Durley Chine)
Groynes 32 to 41 (Fisherman’s Walk to Southbourne)
Groyne 45 to Hengistbury Head
